Post-Apocalyptic Character Design II

Good evening folks,
here I am again with another set of female portraits. I don't know, but it feels like I often need more time for female character development. I think I am just very picky with them. Problem is, I don't like a too girly type (I'd call it Barbie), but I also want to try out different things, wich means I should not make them too edgy every time.
Here again I am not sure. And yes – hair will follow. I just tried to concentrate on the face. By the way yesterday's designs looked a little bit different because I was trying another tool setting in Photoshop. Unfortunately then I forgot what my old settings were and it took me some time to get it back. But these are with my preferred settings again, should be fine now.
If you have an opinion to share about my sketches, please let me know in the comments. They are always warmly welcome!

Post-Apocalyptic Character Design I

It's a girl. I mean a woman. I mean, I decided for a female character.
And I forgot to post these sketches yesterday:

Then today I made up a scenery, where the character will be standing with a background and wanted to start but – no surprise, I can't. I can't without a face. As usual I can't really feel the character when I didn't draw the face yet. So I tried some faces (I don't know, about ten variations I guess) and the above ones are my favourites. But I am still not very satisfied, I will probably try around some more tomorrow I guess. But it's going into the right direction.

"My Child" – Digital Character Painting

Good evening and congrats to myself that I finally finished a picture again!
After the first few steps seemed good to me (you can see it on Instagram), I was optimistic and motivated enough to continue and this is the outcome. On to the next one!

Post Apocalyptic Character Silhouettes

Hello folks,
today character design again. I want to join the post apocalyptic character contest on CG Cookie, short before the deadline. Why do I always decide to join contests that late? And why do I always miss when there is a contest somewhere around? Who knows, it's probably an eternal mystery.
However, I could use some of those for other characters, but for that particular one I found five that I want to focus on, until I filter the best one out. Hope to show you the progress as I continue with this.

Character drawing

Work in progress. Well, I hope it will progress and it's not like I tend to do recently: just give it up again. This one is based on a photo posted in the Daily Drawing Challenge group on Facebook, unfortunately the post with the original photo disappeared again (was posted yesterday) so I can not show it to you now. But if anybody knows the photo, feel free to give me a hint.
I'll change some more things, especially on the girl, because she looks just like from the original photo, only with different clothes and I don't want that. I'll keep that "type" though. I like(d) her face especially, so I wouldn't really want to change a lot on it. I'll see what I can do.

Living in containers

Hello after some days that I didn't write a blog entry!
I am working on some environments/interiors, as a break from the character(s). I need to get my head free of them for a moment and started with container houses. More container things will follow I guess.

Male character concepts

Hello, hello, hello!
Here are my more or less grumpy character portraits. I made them up from male celebrity face studies that I posted yesterday. Did a bunch of combinations and coloured the ones that I liked the best. The 4 above. No use of photos (only as reference), just drawing in Photoshop. Do you have any favourite?

Male celebs face studies - final

He-he-hello...
Am I glad that I finished all the heads that I planned to draw. From these I hope to create a new character. A new Ched I mean. But maybe others too, I don't know yet.
I had the most fun with Kevin Costner and David Duchovny. Mads Mikkelsen was really the hardest to do, but his face is so unique.

Norman Reedus, Luke Evans, Lee Pace, Bruce Willis, Channing Tatum

Male celebs facestudies

Good evening everybody!
So today I started drawing some celebrity portraits. Though I like these people, it's not really fanart. I want to improve Ched (the character I am working on), that's what the face studies are for. Here we have Norman Reedus, Luke Evans and Kevin Costner. More to come...

Angela Gossow fanart

Hooray, here comes the good Angela's fanart! Didn't want to get super detailed and there is still room for improvements but hey, it's Angela Gossow. Hairy. It's not a unique design or something, just a portrait, but I recorded a video again that I hope to put on YouTube soon. With comments. Since I didn't really finish something "special" lately, I thought this is better than nothing.

Angela Merkel portrait (I know it's weird)

Hey ho folks!
So In the last few days I didn't really finish any drawing or painting and this evening I thought: let's just make a quick portrait for fun. Since I already did a portrait of Alissa White-Gluz, today the model was supposed to be Angela Gossow. So I wanted to look for a reference photo on Google, started typing her name and after the first name Google's suggestion was Angela Merkel. And I was like "uuuuhm. Okay".
Next time the better Angela! Because this is not a fanart. Face is still...interesting to draw.

Back with Manga character designs

Hi everybody,
so I am back. I was in England, had a nice time, came back on Wednesday and started being artsy again today.
I got some inspirations and ideas during my art-break, but first of all I had to continue with the work for the "Yamete" project.
I did the two characters that were still missing, so now the four-member-band is complete. Though I didn't get the "okay" from the author yet, here are all of them below.

I'm curious what she (the author) will say and looking forward to work on my own stuff again, hopefully from tomorrow.
